Akhirnya, ada lagi posting buat proyek pribadi saya, I Saw It, I Read It. Karena sekalian dalam rangka posting bareng Jane Austen, kali ini saya akan menulis review dalam bahasa Indonesia, bukan dalam bahasa Inggris seperti bahasa yang digunakan di bukunya.

 EMMA WOODHOUSE, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her.

Emma

Itulah kalimat pembuka dari kisah Emma ini, sekaligus perkenalan akan tokoh utama kita. Tokoh Emma memang adalah tokoh yang serba berkecukupan. Wajahnya cantik, keluarganya cukup berada dan kaya, dan ia punya orang-orang yang mengasihinya. Hidupnya sebenarnya sudah sempurna, tapi mungkin kadang-kadang ada bosannya juga ya hidup serba sempurna. Maka dia pun jadi iseng. Lalu, disinilah cerita dimulai.

Berawal ketika Emma memperkenalkan guru sekaligus pengasuhnya, Miss Taylor, kepada Mr. Weston di suatu hari yang hujan dan kemudian mereka menikah, Emma tiba-tiba merasa bahwa ia punya bakat jadi mak comblang. Maka ia pun bertekad mencari "korban" untuk dicomblangi. Korbannya adalah Harriet Smith, seorang perempuan siswi sekolah Mrs. Goddards, dan juga teman baru Emma. Emma ingin menjodohkan Harriet dengan Mr. Elton. Pada saat itu sebenarnya Harriet telah dilamar oleh Mr. Martin, namun atas bujukan Emma yang merasa Mr. Martin tidak sederajat dengan Harriet, maka Harriet menolak lamaran tersebut. Sayang, kemudian Emma mendapati bahwa Mr. Elton jatuh cinta pada Emma, bukan Harriet. Emma, yang sudah bertekad tidak akan menikah dan mengurus estatnya, Hartfield, tentu menolak. Membuat Mr. Elton patah hati dan pergi dari Highbury.

Emma memiliki tetangga bernama Mr. George Knightley, pemilik Donwell Abbey. Adik Mr. Knightley, Mr. John Knightley (dipanggil John), menikah dengan kakak Emma, Isabella. Jadi, Emma dan Mr. Knightley punya hubungan ipar. Mr. Knightley terkenal sangat rasional dan bijaksana, dan sejak dulu suka memarahi Emma tatkala gadis itu suka bertindak seenaknya. Mr Knightley pun memarahi Emma tatkala tahu ulah Emma terhadap Harriet dan Mr. Elton. Tapi Emma cuek.

Cerita menjadi lebih ramai tatkala Miss Jane Fairfax dan Mr Frank Churchill datang ke Highbury. Jane Fairfax adalah keponakan dari tetangga Emma yang miskin, Miss. Bates. Dulu Jane tinggal di Highbury namun karena ia tidak lagi memiliki orang tua dan kekayaan bibinya sangat terbatas, ia dibawa dan dirawat keluarga Campbell. Nasib Mr Frank juga mirip. Ia sebenarnya adalah anak Mr. Weston, namun dirawat oleh keluarga almarhumah ibunya, keluarga Churchill. Jane sangat tertutup dan pendiam sementara Frank sebaliknya.

Frank dengan cepat menjadi dekat dengan Emma, sehingga Emma berpikir ia jatuh cinta pada Frank. Namun lagi-lagi Mr. Knightley berpendapat berbeda. Selain itu, tiba-tiba Mr. Elton kembali membawa Mrs. Elton, membuat keadaan tambah ramai lagi.

The story is about....

A boy named Kyle Kingsbury. He was handsome, he was rich, and he was snob. He was the most popular boy at school and always looked down on the other students who were not as blessed as him (means less goodlooking, less rich, etc.). Before the prom night, Kyle decided to do a little prank to a weird gothic student named Kendra. He wanted to pretend that he was interested in Kendra and wanted to asked her to the prom when actually Kyle had already asked his girlfriend, Sloane, to be his partner. He planned to dump Kendra on the prom. One thing that Kyle didn't know was that Kendra already knew Kyle's plan to her and that she had a better plan upon Kyle.

"Kyle Kingsbury, what you did was ugly. And it wasn't the first time. All your life you've gotten special treatment because of your beauty, and all your life you've used that beauty to be cruel to those less fortunate."

She waved her hand with a shower of sparks.

"I have transformed you to your truer self."

I was a beast.

Kendra was a witch and on the midnight after the prom, she cursed Kyle to be a beast. To break the spell, in two years Kyle must meet his true love, the one that he love and would love him back, and kiss her. Otherwise, he would be forever beast.

I've changed my name.

There was no Kyle anymore. There was nothing left of Kyle. Kyle Kingsbury was dead. I didn't want his name anymore.

I looked up the meaning of Kyle online, and that clinched it. Kyle means "handsome". I wasn't. I found a name that means "ugly", Feo (who would name their kid that?). But finally settled on Adrian, which means "dark one". That was me, the dark one.

Kyle then moved to Brooklyn, only with his maid, Magda, and a blind tutor his father hired for him named Will. Kyle changed his name to Adrian and he focused his life to rose planting. One day, a man broke into Adrian's house, tried to steal something but got caught by Adrian. The man then exchanged his life with his daughter's. He promised Adrian that he would bring her daughter to live with Adrian and Adrian accepted it, thinking that maybe she was his true love.

"I thought she'd be impressed with the stuff I bought her, the beautiful furniture, and the clothes. She's poor, and I thought that if I bought her jewelry and pretty things, she'd give me a chance. But she doesn't want any of it."

Will smiled. "No, she doesn't. She just wants her freedom. Don't you?"

The man kept his promise and brought his 16 year old daughter, Lindy, to Adrian's house. At first, Lindy hated to be a prisoner in Adrian's house and Adrian was almost desperate when things gradually changed. Lindy saw Adrian and she wasn't scared. She was now becoming his new friend and they spent time together. Lindy loved books and roses and Adrian fell in love so deep with her so that he's willing to give anything Lindy needs. The only problem was: would Lindy love him back, despite his ugly appearance? Would Lindy kiss him and break the spell?

This is the first book and movie review for my personal project: I Saw It, I Read It.
I loovveeee Zac Efron. That's why, i chose to read and watch Charlie St. Cloud first. Hehe.

Charlie was 15 when the accident that took his younger brother's life happened. Sam was 12 at that time. It happened after Charlie illegally borrowed their neighbor's car and drove it to a baseball match.

Since the accident, Charlie was able to see spirits. Sam's spirit and also other spirits. He could talk and interact with them. Charlie, when he and Sam were in the in-between-world (Charlie were there for a few minutes before the paramedics shocked him to live again) made a promise that he wouldn't let Sam alone. So, every evening he would see Sam and playing catch a ball with him. If Charlie broke his promise and didn't meet Sam in the evening, Sam would slowly fade away and then disappear.

 Thirteen years had passed and Charlie was working on a cemetery. He never left Marblehead because of Sam and the cemetery was the right place for him to stay because the meeting point of him and Sam was in the forest inside the cemetery area. One day, Charlie met Tess Carol, a famous female sailor, when she was visiting her father's grave and both quickly fell in love with each other. But then, coincidentally, Tess met Sam and able to see and talk to him, which means that Tess was also a spirit. Tess realized that she was also a spirit when she looked at the sea and couldn't find her reflection.

The news came that Tess' boat, Querencia, was lost in the sea during hurricane when Tess was sailing alone and they hadn't found Tess' body. Charlie believed that Tess was still alive and her body was waiting for someone to find her. Charlie then tried to find Tess' body and prove that the girl he loved was still alive, although that means that he couldn't be back to the cemetery on time to meet Sam. Was Tess already died? If she was still alive, would she remember Charlie, a guy whom she fell in love with when she was a spirit? Would Charlie sacrifice his brother for the girl he loved?

Lagi ngeliat-liat buku di Times Bookstore, eh bokap mau beliin. Buat kado ulang tahun, katanya. Yippiiee!!!!!

Tapi belum bisa dibaca sekarang. Selain masih ada buku-buku yang masih belum selesai dibaca, saya juga masih punya dua buku lagi yang harus dibaca buat keperluan kerja *menghela napas keras-keras*.
